TYPICAL ITINERARY

Begin your idyllic Tahitian Treasures cruise on the Pacific Pearl. Relax and enjoy the leisurely days as you head to:

Norfolk Island
Norfolk Island is a small island in the Pacific Ocean located between Australia, New Zealand and New Caledonia. It and two neighbouring islands form one of Australia's external territories. The Norfolk Island pine, a symbol of the island pictured in its flag, is an evergreen tree native to the island and is quite popular in Australia, where two related species also grow.

Nuku'alofa
This is Tonga to a T'. If your idea of heaven involves perfect beaches, waving palms, clear blue waters teeming with colourful fish and fabulous coral, then you've arrived!

Vava'u
The Vava'u (pronounced "vav-ah-oo") Group of islands lies 240km (150 miles) north of Tongatapu and is the northernmost of Tonga's three island groups. It is fairly isolated and many of the local people live a traditional subsistence lifestyle, owning small farms and serving most of their needs from what they produce. This group of 50 or so thickly wooded islands has excellent diving, with visibility often as much as 30m (100ft). Vava'u is also popular for the fabulous beaches, swimming, snorkelling, and reef viewing and is a Mecca for sport fishing and big game fishing.

Local attractions include the Fangatongo Royal Residence, the view from Mount Talau and Sailoame Market in Neiafu, the main town.

Rarotonga
Rarotonga, Cook Islands – port code RAR
The volcanic island of Rarotonga (rara-tonga) is the administrative center of the Cook Islands. The highest point is Te Manga, which at 2,139 feet rises majestically. The population is made up of descendants from voyagers from the Society Islands and the Marquesas. Explorer James Cook visited these islands between 1773 and 1779 and named them the Hervey Islands. However, the name was later changed to the Cook Islands. This island chain was a British protectorate in 1888 and was annexed to New Zealand in 1900. Today, the Cook Islands is self-governing in association with New Zealand.

Papeete
This is another everyday south Pacific island. That is to say its stunningly beautiful and blessed with a wonderful climate. What you might not expect however is the influence of the French especially in the superb local restaurants.

The above fares are the best direct online fares available. More flexible booking, payment and cancellation terms are available by purchasing a full fare.
Moorea

Moorea
Moorea - port code MOZ
The island of Moorea (more-eh-ah) is situated about 15 miles west of Papeete. It is one of the Society Islands, which in turn, are part of French Polynesia.

However, unlike her more modern sister island of Tahiti, Moorea is an uncrowded island paradise of dramatic jagged green mountains, lush tropical forests, and white sand beaches. It's no wonder that the Bali Hai parts of the movie "South Pacific" were filmed here.

The island is noted for its beautiful scenery and unaffected quality of life. Tahitian and French are the local languages. Except for a small coastal strip, the 51 square mile of the island are composed almost entirely of rugged mountains covered with blue and scarlet creepers.

Bora Bora
This is real South Pacific' stuff! Discover an island that's as beautiful as it is friendly. From its soaring mountains to its perfect beaches this is yet another slice of paradise. For many there are few places, if any, in the world whose natural beauty surpasses Bora Bora. Bora Bora is a masterpiece of deep green volcanic peaks edged by a ribbon of white sandy beaches, all rising from a spectacular lagoon of jewel-like hues ranging from deep amethyst to light turquoise.

Bora Bora is a small island with a circumference of 25 miles and a local population of approximately 2, 600. Most live in one of three small villages, Vaitape, Anau, or Faanui. It's hard to imagine this island paradise was a United States supply base during the Second World War, but remains of the navy's four-year stay are still evident. Although tourism is flourishing, the island's beauty has been preserved and protected and we're sure you'll enjoy your stay.

Lying about 160 miles northwest of Tahiti, Bora Bora is one of the Society Islands, which in turn form part of French Polynesia. This little paradise provided James Michener with the settling for his novel "South Pacific". Bora Bora consists of a central island almost completely surrounded by a coral reef and smaller reef islands, one of which serves as the airport. The climate is tropical, divided into two seasons. December-February is warm and moist with a good deal of rain. March-April can be wet, but May-November is cool and dry.

Moorea has two spectacular bays, Cook's Bay and Opunohu Bay, which help give the island its distinctive butterfly shape. The 37-mile drive around the island introduces you to the relaxed lifestyle of Moorea's 5000 inhabitants and provides you with countless vantage points from which to savor this island's beauty.

The climate is tropical and divided into two seasons. December-February is warm and moist with a good deal of rain. March-April can be wet, but May-November is cool and dry.

Apia
Apia, Western Samoa – port code APW
Western Samoa lies in the very heart of the South Pacific. There are 9 islands, of which 4 are inhabited and 5 uninhabited. The main township of Apia is located on the island of Upolu. Independent since 1962, Western Samoa, although similar to America Samoa has distinct differences. Samoans are the 2nd largest group of full-blooded Samoans (New Zealand's native Maoris are the 1st) and very proud of fa'a Samoa (the Samoan Way). The economy is based primarily on agriculture and fishing. Families generally live together in a thatched roof residence called a fale, which is built on a platform made of stone with mats covering the pebble floor.

Lying under palms and huge umbrella trees, Apia looks as you have always imagined a South Seas island town should look. Substantial buildings line the main road along the seafront, with banks, shops, shipping offices, the post office, and the usual Pacific island public market where everything is sold. The traditional center is the town clock, a World War I memorial and traffic circle.

Niuafo'ou - Tonga
With no safe anchorage for ships, the volcanic island of Niuafo'ou is affectionately known as ‘Tin Can Island’ as the mail was traditionally delivered by throwing biscuit tins from passing ships. Cruise past this fascinating piece of maritime and postal history.

Savu Savu - Fiji
Savusavu is situated on Vanua Levu, is often referred to as Fiji’s Hidden Paradise and was originally established as a centre for sailing ships trading in sandalwood, beche-de-mer and copra. See the geothermal hot springs where local women use the bubbling springs for cooking.

Suva - Fiji
Suva, Fiji's capital is on the south-eastern coast of the big island of Viti Levu. Suva is the country's political and administrative centre as well as the major port. Suva and its urban surrounds are home to half of Fiji's urban population, and it is one of the South Pacific's largest and most sophisticated cities, housing the University of the South Pacific, the fascinating Fiji Museum and many interesting colonial-era buildings. It's a multicultural city with many mosques, temples, churches and cultural centres. The Roman Catholic Cathedral (1902) is one of the city's most prominent landmarks.

The waterfront area is very interesting, and the Suva Municipal Market is a must-see for visitors for its exotic fruits and vegetables, kava, fish and seafood, and spices. It has an exciting multicultural flavour, with vendors selling brightly coloured Indian sweets and savouries, and fruit drinks from glass tanks.

Port Denarau is the perfect departure point for day tours to the outer Fijian islands. Enjoy an idyllic day beach combing or venture on shore to see traditional cultural displays. There’s great shopping in the local markets.

Dravuni Island is a majestic volcanic island in the Kadavu Group of Islands in Fiji. A real taste of Fijian culture awaits you here. Amid tall palm trees and a gorgeous beach is a small village waiting to be explored.

Isle of Pines
The waters off the Isle of Pines must really 'wash whitest' because the sands of the Isle's Kato Bay will impress any visitor with its white, white, talcum-like beach. The Isle of Pines is part of New Caledonia and is situated 50km south east of the mainland. The tall narrow pine trees are a feature of this 17km long island. The most difficult aspect of your visit to the Isle of Pines will be saying goodbye to its sunny skies, friendly faces, warm waters and of course those beautiful beaches.

Noumea
The port of Noumea is from where New Caledonia exports most of its nickel ore. It is one of the largest ports P&O Cruises visit in the South Pacific. The city of Noumea is a short distance away from the port. Le Petit Train is one of the most popular ways of getting into Noumea and exploring the city.

The city is spread out over a long distance. The famous Tjbaou Cultural centre, one of the jewels of the South Pacific is an architectural masterpiece and is 20 minutes outside the centre. Many of the other sights are quite a distance apart and tours by motor trike, fun car, bike or helicopter offer the best way to see the city. Some great tours are on offer outside of the city, 4WD in the bush, hiking Mount Koghis, Kayaking the Dumbea River.

Coconut Park, with its towering palm trees, is the focal point of the city. Being the French administrative centre of the islands there are lots of public and civic buildings built in a distinctive French architecture. The city has some little gems; traditional Boulangerie (Bakery Shops), cafés (where you can taste New Caledonia’s own coffee) and fabulous restaurants where you can sample fine New Caledonian foods cooked in a French style with imported French wines.

Aside from tours the most popular activity it to head to two beaches a short drive from central Noumea, Anse Vata and Baie Citron, here you can enjoy resort facilities, swim off the beach, eat at one of the small brasseries or do some souvenir shopping.

On very rare occasions, a rate may be displayed incorrectly due to our, or the cruise operator's error. In such a case, if you make a reservation enquiry with us at a quoted rate that is incorrect, we will notify you of any price change and give you the option to proceed or cancel. We make every effort to keep information on our site up to date, but we cannot guarantee this website is free of errors or omissions and retain the right to update or change the information published at any time.

P&O Cruises - Terms and Conditions

These are the Terms and Conditions under which you book and travel on any P&O Cruises product we sell you. You are bound by these Terms and Conditions, so it is important that you read them carefully.

P&O Cruises/We/Our/Us means Carnival plc. You are entering into this contract with Carnival plc trading as P&O Cruises, ARBN 107 998 443.

Certain laws such as the Trade Practices Act 1974 (Cth) and any applicable state based consumer legislation (from here known as ‘consumer laws’), are in place for your protection. They are designed to ensure our services are provided with due care and skill and are reasonably fit for a holiday. These Terms and Conditions do not alter any protection given to you by consumer laws. All prices are correct at the time of publication and are quoted in Australian dollars.

Your agreement with us

When you first make a payment towards your cruise holiday, you accept our Terms and Conditions on behalf of all passengers in the booking. Once we have received a payment, an agreement on these Terms and Conditions becomes effective between all passengers in the booking and Carnival plc.

It is essential that you make final payment by the due date. If payment is not received, bookings will be automatically cancelled and our cancellation policy will apply.
If you are making a booking within the ‘final payment due’ period of your selected cruise, full payment is required at the time of booking.

However, to accommodate families cruising together, children may occupy a separate cabin to their parent/guardian, providing one child is aged 16 years or over. For the following cruises, any passenger under the age of 21 years on the day they board the cruise, must travel in the same cabin as their parent or legal guardian:

We welcome children 12 months and over to cruise with us. We are unable to accommodate infants less than 12 months due to limited neo-natal facilities on board and at ports of call. In addition, infants aged between 12 months and 3 years must remain with their parent/ guardian at all times.

Children

For the safety and enjoyment of all on board, there are limits on the number of children that can be carried within different age groups. The age of the passenger on the day they board the cruise, is the age we use for the entire holiday. We will be able to advise you at the time of booking whether we are able to accept bookings for children on the cruise you have chosen. Parents/guardians are responsible for children at all times. If a child displays dangerous or disruptive behaviour, the ‘Rights of the Captain’ will be applied to both parent/guardian and child. Children’s access to pools and spas may be restricted and adult supervision is required.

Children centres

Children less than 3 years of age are welcome to use the Children Centre’s facilities under the direct supervision of their parent/guardian. To attend the Children Centres without a parent/guardian, children need to be over 3 years of age and toilet trained.
Use of the Children Centres requires daily registration and entry is on a first-come-first-served basis as places are limited. Group child minding for children 3-12 years is available between 10pm and 1am for a fee.

Requirements to travel

Passports, visas and vaccinations are your responsibility. Without the necessary passport, visas and/or vaccinations, local authorities may deny you boarding, prevent you from going ashore, issue a fine or deny the ship entry into the port. Passports are required and must be valid for a minimum of 6 months beyond the date of the cruise return. In addition, travel on our cruises will not revalidate an Australian re-entry visa. Australian residents do not need a passport or visa for any cruise that does not visit a foreign port; however, photo identification is required. A current Medicare card can be used for passengers under 18 years of age.

Illicit substances

To ensure a safe and enjoyable holiday for all our passengers, it will be necessary for our staff and other parties, such as port and government agencies, to search you and your luggage. You agree to allow such searches. We can deny boarding or disembark any person in possession of any weapons or illicit substances.

Alcohol & gambling

We are committed to the Responsible Service of Alcohol. There may be times when we consider it appropriate to refuse the service of alcohol to a passenger for any reason. Passengers must be 18 years or over to purchase or consume alcohol, or gamble on board. Photo identification may be requested. Any alcohol purchased ashore will be collected at the gangway for safe keeping and will be returned to you on the last day of your cruise.

Your health

We care about the health and safety of our passengers. To assist, please advise us at the time of booking if you have any condition that requires medical attention, medication or special treatment. We may also ask you to complete a health questionnaire. If a passenger has a condition that we decide may seriously affect the enjoyment, health or safety of themselves or any other person on board, we can refuse or cancel a booking, where necessary. We will give reasonable consideration when reaching this decision and will advise you as soon as possible. Provided you have given us all relevant information about the condition at the time of booking, you will be entitled to a full refund if we cancel your booking on the basis of this condition.

On board medical centre

Each ship has a Medical Centre that is staffed by registered doctors and nurses, who are available during scheduled times to provide medical care for everyone on board. They are also available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for medical emergencies. Our Medical Centre is only for medical needs arising on board and cannot cater for treatments that you know you will require while on holiday.

We are not a healthcare provider and may not be held liable for the sickness, injury or death of any passenger arising from any advice, treatment, care, services or any omission by medical staff. These medical providers exercise their own medical judgement and expertise.

On board medical charges

All cruises on our ships are outside the scope of Australian Medicare, New Zealand Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC),  and private health insurance. Consultations, treatments and medication are charged at private rates and must be paid by you and claimed through your travel insurance.

Other service providers

While we specialise in cruising holidays, you may choose to book other services with us such as flights, accommodation and shore tours. We can assist you in making these arrangements; however, we act only as a booking agent. The service providers are solely responsible for the information and service offered and their conditions will apply. Although our responsibility is on board the ship, where we arrange these services for you, we will assist in addressing any concerns you may have. Any arrangements made by or for you are your responsibility and entirely at your own risk.

Ship & itinerary changes

We will do everything we reasonably can to make sure everything goes according to plan; however, sometimes changes can happen that may affect your holiday experience. This could include weather, mechanical difficulties, civil unrest or any other unforeseen circumstances.

In addition, we may charter all or part of the ship or remove the ship from service where this becomes necessary. We may change the itinerary, ship or cancel the cruise due to operational or commercial requirements.

We will notify you of these changes as soon as we can. Where we cancel a cruise or make a significant change to the ports in your itinerary prior to departure, you will have the choice of:
• the new itinerary;
• an alternative cruise of comparable standard, if available; or
• cancelling the cruise for a full refund of your fare.

Once your cruise has commenced, if we are required to change the itinerary or cancel the cruise due to safety, maritime law, severe weather or to protect human life or health, we are not required to provide any compensation. With this in mind, please do not make any important arrangements or meetings based on the proposed itinerary.

Rights of the Captain

If a passenger seriously affects the safety, wellbeing and enjoyment of themselves or any other person on board, the Captain has the right to confine, sedate or disembark the passenger. In such cases, we are not responsible for any expenses including your return home. In addition, you will not be entitled to any refunds. While the Captain will always act reasonably in these circumstances, you accept that the safety, wellbeing and enjoyment of everyone on board, comes first.

Leaving the cruise early

If you are required or choose to leave the cruise for any reason, we are not responsible for any expenses, including your return home. This also applies if you do not return to the ship after a port visit in time for sailing. If we assist with any costs, you will need to repay us on your return. In addition, you will not be entitled to any refunds.

Legal matters

In the unlikely event you have reason to take legal action, you agree to use all reasonable efforts to bring the issue to our attention as soon as possible.

This contract is governed by the laws of New South Wales. You agree that any action you bring against us will be heard in New South Wales, unless consumer laws allow you to bring an action elsewhere in Australia.

You agree only to bring action against us and not any of our related bodies corporate as defined in the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth), or any other person involved or connected with the ship. You agree that we hold the benefit of this promise for ourselves and also on behalf of the others parties it is intended to protect. If you do take action against any of those parties, you will be required to compensate for the full amount of the actual damage or loss sustained, and any expenses incurred by us and the other person or persons who you claim against.

Where permitted by consumer laws and other laws, we shall not be liable for:
• loss of, or damage to, any luggage or other belongings
• sickness, injury or death
Unless caused by our proven negligence. In addition, our liability will be reduced in proportion to any negligence or fault on your part.

Privacy laws safeguard your personal details.
